Bobby S. Korn, M.D., Ph.D. is a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Professor of Clinical Plastic Surgery at UC San Diego. He earned his undergraduate degree at MIT and his M.D./Ph.D. at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he studied under two Nobel Laureates. He completed his ophthalmology residency as Chief Resident and his fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCSD. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Dr. Korn's practice is limited to oculoplastic surgery, including cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid and facial surgery, thyroid eye disease, eyelid and orbital tumors, orbital fractures, tear duct disorders, and endoscopic forehead lifting. He has been named a San Diego Top Physician for 14 consecutive years and recognized as a Top Physician by U.S. News and World Report, Castle Connolly, and Best Doctors of America. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and is Chief Editor of the Video Atlas of Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, now in its 2nd Edition, and Associate Editor of the journal Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. His research interests include artificial intelligence and augmented reality/spatial computing in surgical planning, visualization, and education. He has received numerous honors, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology Senior Achievement and Secretariat Awards and the ASOPRS Research Award, and has delivered over 170 lectures nationally and internationally. In his free time, he is a volunteer surgeon locally and abroad. |
